What you want to achieve is a nut slot depth that will allow the string to poroperly clear the frets when playing the string open (not buzzing you accurately measure and adjust nut height to the perfect level for the softest feel possible

slot jos889 Weird? What's weird about it? The height of the top of the nut really has no bearing on anything except aesthetics  That's a FLAT radius for a Strat! Think of it as an acoustic neck, then: verify whether the nut slot itself is flat or curved on the bottom
